Hi, I'm happy you're here!
I'm a Somatic Movement Coach with training in various types of yoga, including Trauma-Informed Yoga. A somatic coach applies a holistic approach to personal and professional development that integrates the body, mind, and spirit. My role is to create a safe & supportive space for you in your journey of self-discovery, growth, and transformation by facilitating a deeper connection to your body’s innate wisdom and intelligence.
Practicing yoga somatically, we ask & embody the following questions: what am I feeling? is this nourishing? does this work for me? how could I be more comfortable here? can the learning come from my body? We practice personal agency, we become empowered to know that we have choice and that we each know our experience and our body better than anyone else.
In order to create any change we first have to know what we are doing; we have to notice our habits. If we choose to work together, I will encourage you to question & explore, treating you as a unique individual while providing tools designed to support your physical, energetic, mental, & spiritual health.

Why Yoga?
Yoga is a body-weight-bearing exercise. With a regular yoga practice you will reap the benefits of strength training. Yoga can improve your flexibility, mobility, balance, bone density, endurance, muscle mass, agility and energy level. Yoga is more than a physical practice, it’s a spiritual practice that prepares the mind & body to sit for longer periods of time in meditation, which leads to mindfulness & self-realization. Similar to psychotherapy, yoga focuses on growing developmentally, thus awakening to deeper states of being. Yoga is holistic in nature; it aims for wholeness in mind, body & soul. Yoga is self-study and believes that we each have the capacity to be our own guide on life’s journey; we were born perfect & all the answers to life are within. Yoga meets you where you are & gives you what you need.
Why Somatics?
Somatics is neuromuscular education that uses the groundbreaking technique of pandiculation to retrain muscle memory and relieve pain. Most chronic pain, joint degeneration, and recurring injuries are caused by the way we habitually use our bodies. Our nervous system tells us which muscles to contract, when to release them, and how to stand and move. The more we repeat a certain posture or movement, the more deeply learned that muscular pattern becomes. After a while, our patterns become so deeply learned that we don’t even have to think about them. This is what we call muscle memory. Unfortunately, sometimes we learn patterns that damage our bodies; like watching Youtube on our phone with a forward head posture. The only way to change these deeply learned muscular patterns is to re-educate the nervous system. Somatics uses specialized movement techniques that engage the nervous system in an active learning process. The exercises teach the nervous system how to release chronic muscle tension and stand and move in natural, efficient ways so that you aren’t putting yourself in pain or doing damage to your body.
